Selling on social media

Why Use Papi?

Without Papi:

  • You share your mobile money number with your customer (e.g., "Here is my number: 034 12 345 67").
  • The customer sends the money and tells you, "I sent it!" but you still need to:
    • Check if you got the payment.
    • Ask the customer for their name, order details, and other info.

With Papi:

  • You create a Payment Link.
  • Send the link to your customer (e.g., on Facebook Messenger or SMS).
  • The customer clicks the link, makes the payment, and you're notified.
  • Papi shows you the payment details, so you don't need to ask your customer again.

How Does It Work?

Here’s a step-by-step guide to using Papi:

When you want your customer to pay, you create a Payment Link on Papi. It's simple! Here's what you need to fill out:

  1. Amount to Pay
Example: If your customer is buying 2 T-shirts for 40,000 MGA, you type "40,000 MGA."

  2. What the Order Is
Example: Write something like "2 T-shirts: green (M), blue (M)."

  3. Customer Name
Example: Type "Jaona Donto" (or any name they give you).

  4. Email and Phone Number (Optional)
If your customer gave their email or phone, you can add it. If not, skip it.

  5. How Long the Link Works
You decide when the link should expire. Options:

    • 6 hours
    • 12 hours
    • 1 day
    • 2 days (Default)
    • 1 week

Example: If your customer might need more time, pick "1 week."

When you're done, Papi will create a link like this:
https://forms.papi.mg/plink/abc123xyz.

After the link is created, you can:

  • Copy the link and send it via Messenger, WhatsApp, or SMS.
Example: "Here’s your payment link: https://forms.papi.mg/plink/abc123xyz."
  • Email the link (if you entered their email).
  • Send it by SMS (if you entered their phone number).

Step 3: Customer Pays

Your customer clicks the link and sees a page like this:

  • The amount to pay is big and clear (e.g., "Pay 40,000 MGA").
  • The customer name and order description are displayed (e.g., "Jaona Donto, 2 T-shirts: green (M), blue (M)").
  • They choose how to pay (using Papi's secure payment methods).

Once they pay, you're all set!

Step 4: Check Payment Status

In your Papi account (called the "back office"), you can see:

  • Green: Payment is complete.
  • Orange: Payment is still in progress.
  • Red: Payment failed or expired.

You can also get an SMS alert when a payment is successful.

Example: Selling T-Shirts on Facebook

  1. You’re chatting with a customer on Messenger who wants to buy 2 T-shirts for 40,000 MGA.
  2. You create a Payment Link with:
    • Amount: 40,000 MGA
    • Description: "2 T-shirts: green (M), blue (M)"
    • Customer Name: "Jaona Donto"
  3. Papi gives you a link: https://forms.papi.mg/plink/abc123xyz.
  4. You send the link to the customer on Messenger.
  5. The customer clicks the link, pays, and you get notified in your back office.
